Sāhityadarpaṇa of Viśvanātha is one of the most popular basic texts of Sāhityaśāstra, covering all the foundational concepts of Kāvya and its varied aspects. It is universally studied by students of Sanskrit poetics, as it is one of easier texts of the genre.
In these audio lectures, Ms. Visalakshi Sankaran explains selected portions of the text in simple Tamil. She gives a detailed introduction to the study of poetics in Sanskrit and traces the views of major ālaṅkārikas. She then goes on to explain the first pariccheda dealing with kāvyasvarūpa fully. In the tenth pariccheda, alaṅkāras till śleṣa have been covered.
