A free webinar course to train students for the Kovida examination, as per the syllabus of Samskrita Bharati.
Note: Basic aspects of all the concepts will be covered, in accordance with the prescribed syllabus.
Intermediate learners who have passed the Shiksha exam (3rd level of Samskrita Bharati examinations), or are at a similar level of learning. (Please visit the Shiksha course page here to see what concepts are covered at that level).
Samskrita Bharathi is one of the premier organisations which has brought about a revolution in the world of Sanskrit through its Spoken Sanskrit camps and Sanskrit Through Sanskrit (STS) methodology. It has helped the spread of Sarala Samskrita across the globe. It offers correspondence courses in four levels (Patrachara Samskritam), conducting examinations twice a year. This course aims to help the students who are preparing for the fourth level (Kovida) of these courses.
Note – Students will have to register for the examination on their own, at any Samskrita Bharati center close to them. On registration, they will receive printed study materials for the course, which they are expected to have with them while attending this course. Vyoma Saṃskṛta Pāṭhaśālā is conducting this course purely to facilitate study for these courses, and has no role to play in either registration or conducting the examinations.
The course is primarily targeted towards students who are appearing for the Kovida examination conducted by Samskrita Bharati, and the classes will be closely aligned with the syllabus.
However, you are welcome to join even if you are not appearing for the exam, if you want to learn the concepts covered here.
2. Is it compulsory to appear for the Kovida exam after attending the course?
Not at all. Registering and appearing for the exam is completely your choice. If you want to write the exam, you will have to contact your nearest Samskrita Bharati center
3. I have already written the Kovida exam. Can I join?
Definitely. You can attend these classes simply to improve your understanding of the concepts, or for refreshing the topics.
The classes are conducted online through a tool called Gotowebinar. Students can join the classes through their computers or smartphones.
2. Are the classes live or pre-recorded?
The classes are live, conducted at the time announced above. After each class, recording of the class will be uploaded in the portal. Those who cannot attend the live classes can catch up through the recordings.
3. Will there be opportunity for interacting with the teacher?
Definitely. You can ask any of your doubts/questions to the teacher directly during the classes. Also, the classes will be conducted in an interactive manner, and you can participate in the classroom activities.
Classes will be held twice a week Every Friday and Saturday, between 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM IST.
First class will be on Friday, 22nd March 2019.
The course will be for a duration of about 6-8 months.
2. Is attendance compulsary? What if I miss a class in the middle of the course?
Regularity and Punctuality are very improtant in gaining the full benefits of the course. However, if you have to miss some classes due to unavoidable circumstances, please inform the teacher by email in advance. You can catch up with the class using the uploaded materials.
3. I came to know of this course late, and a few classes have already happened? What do I do?
You can start attending the live webinars, and catch up with older portions using recordings.
If you are a pre-existing user of Sanskrit From Home
If you are a new user,
1. What will be the language used in the classes?
Mostly Sanskrit. This is to make sure that the students gain enough fluency in the language, as the examination is expected to be answered entirely in Sanskrit. English may be used occasionally for elucidation of difficult concepts.
2. What is the fee for this course?
This course is absolutely free! The only things you will need to invest is your interest and commitment to attend the classes regularly and participate in the activities.
The course will be taught by Vid. Sowmya Krishnapur (Head – E-learning, Vyoma Saṃskṛta Pāṭhaśālā).
Students are expected to possess their own copy of the Kovida books provided by Samskrita Bharati. Classes and Exercises will be held based on these booklets, and students will be expected to refer to and read from these books during the classes.
Some additional material may be provided by the teacher for certain portions, and will be made available for download in the portal. Recordings of the classes can also be downloaded from the portal.
